How we help keep your bookings, payments, and viewings safe — and what to do if something isn't right.
Always complete your booking and payment through the platform. Payments are processed securely by Paystack, and paying on-platform means you're covered by our policies. Never send money by transfer or cash to anyone who asks you to pay "directly" — that's the clearest sign of a scam.
Every home on Smart Stay Rentals is professionally managed, and new listings are reviewed by our team before they go live — so you get what you booked. If anything about a property doesn't match its listing, tell us.
Each listing's "Things to know" section shows the safety information the host has provided — smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms, any security cameras on the property, and considerations such as nearby water or stairs. Review it so there are no surprises on arrival.
Book inspections through the app so there's a confirmed date, time, and record. When you visit, try to go during daylight, let someone know where you'll be, and consider bringing a friend. Trust your instincts — if something feels off, leave.
Use in-app messaging to talk to your manager or host. It keeps a record of what was agreed, and means we can help if a question or dispute comes up later.
Use a strong, unique password and don't share your login. We'll never ask for your password or full card details by email or phone. If you get a message that looks like it's from us asking for those, don't respond — report it.
If you feel unsafe, spot a suspicious listing or message, or something goes wrong during a stay, contact our team as soon as you can. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call your local emergency services first.
